Ponte Vedra Boulevard Parking Ordinance

Date: July 7, 2006
Subject: New Ponte Vedra Parking Ordinance

Dear Resident:
I am writing to bring to your attention recent changes in the County Ordinance that governs the parking on Ponte Vedra Boulevard. I believe these are positive changes that will bring about the control that you have been asking for. Your Municipal Service District Board, the Ponte Vedra Community Association, and the staff of the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office worked diligently to present the County Commission with a viable plan and they were successful.

Parking on the Ponte Vedra Boulevard right of way will only be allowed with a permit and off duty deputies hired by the permit holder to direct traffic. The parking permit is free but it must be requested a minimum of two weeks prior to the event. Consideration of exigent circumstances will be given. The cost to hire an off duty deputy is $30 per hour, per deputy. The contact to obtain a permit is LT George Clark (810-6678). The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office will be strictly enforcing this ordinance.

Delivery trucks will be allowed to make short stops, however flagmen or cones will be required if the stop is longer than a routine delivery (approximately ten minutes.)

I sincerely hope that this will assist all residents of Ponte Vedra Boulevard with their parking concerns. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

David B. Shoar
Sheriff
