(2) Projects listed at this time.

Electrical activity within the MSD has been ongoing and will continue for the next two to three years.  Two projects are in progress.  Monthly status updates will be posted here.

Project One:
The overhead power lines along Ponte Vedra Blvd. from Sawgrass south to A1A are being placed underground now.  That project started early in 2009 and is projected to be completed by Summer 2010.  The first phase of that project was the installation of underground conduit, completed in the spring of 2009.  Phase two was the installation of the cable, transformers, and the testing of those installations, completed late in 2009.  That is being followed by the transfer of power lines to individual homes from the overhead cables to the underground cables, scheduled to begin in Jan or Feb 2010.  Once all residences have been transferred to the underground transmission lines, the overhead lines and poles in this area will be removed.

Status as of 2 Feb 2010:
The transfer of lines to individual residences from the overhead cables to the buried cables is set to begin soon.  Power will be shut off to homes for short periods as the lines are being transferred.  Residences will be transferred to the underground lines as Beaches Energy Services crews are available.  The projected completion date for these transfers is early Summer 2010.

Project Two:
Around 4 November 2009 Beaches Energy Services commenced the project to move the overhead power lines underground from the Duval County line south to Solana and A1A East to Ponte Vedra Blvd. along all streets in that area of the MSD.  That project is projected to take two to three years from start to completion.  It will be completed in phases and each phase will include installing the underground conduit followed by the installation of the cable and transformers, followed by the transfer of the power lines to each residence from the overhead cables to the underground cables.

Status as of 2 Feb 2010:
Conduit installation along Ponte Vedra Blvd. has been completed.  The contractor will be installing five large manholes on the golf course side of the street.  Some minor traffic disruptions will occurr as each is installed.  All five manholes should be installed by the end of February or sooner.  Conduit installation along San Juan and side streets is completed from Ponte Vedra Blvd. south to Pablo Rd. and is now continuing along San Juan south of Pablo.  As the crews complete installation of the manholes on Ponte Vedra Blvd. they will begin installing conduit along Pablo Rd.

Status as of 3 March 2010:
The five manholes along Ponte Vedra Blvd. are in and there are only a few catch-up things left before completing phase I of the conduit installation of this project which covers the area from the county line to just south of Pablo Rd. along San Juan.  These last few items are expected to be completed in about two weeks. Phase II, continuing south along San Juan and Pablo, will start after that with the installation of conduit.

We also ask your assistance in reporting damaged or inoperable lights (poles and/or fixtures) within MSD to Beaches Energy Dispatch—247-6171.  They will send a repair crew within 48 to 72 hours.
